Joanna Commings

I have been painting and drawing all my life and have taken many courses over the years. Although originally concentrating on portraits, which I really enjoy and for which I still take commissions, love of landscape painting began with my move to Cornwall in 2002.

About the Artist

I have been painting and drawing all my life and have taken many courses over the years. Although originally concentrating on portraits, which I really enjoy and for which I still take commissions, love of landscape painting began with my move to Cornwall in 2002.

I work mainly in acrylics, which I love for their versatility, on watercolour paper, board or canvas. I take inspiration from the Cornish scenery through the differing seasons, primarily around the Camel Estuary, the coastal scenery of Rock and Padstow, the North Cornish coast and Bodmin Moor.

My work has been exhibited in many galleries in Cornwall and Devon and has been selected for the South-West Academy’s Open Exhibition in Exeter in both 2012 and 2013.

I am an Associate Member of the South-West Academy.
